General information and tips for applying to the PreCycle Innovation Challenge:

  • All eligible applicants will have a chance to participate in the program.

  • Application form is designed to understand your needs. We will use this information to match you to mentors.

  • You do not need to have a fully formed idea to register.

  • You do not need to have team members to register.

  • To fill out the application form you’ll need to prepare 2-5 sentence descriptions of:

    • Bio/s of yourself and team members (if applicable)

    • Product/service and its lifecycle

    • Material addressed and its supply

    • Geographic market

    • Target audience and marketing

  • Applications close on Monday, March 13th, at 11:59PM PST.

  • On average the application form takes 30 minutes to fill out.

  • You will be able to edit the application form right after submission.

  • By submitting your application form, you agree to the Commitment, Eligibility, Confidentiality, and Media Release below.

    • The pitch competition is open for business or non-profit product, service, or idea that addresses waste or recycled materials. Waste-to-energy ideas are subject to consideration.

    • Your idea, product or service must impact waste generated in WA state. Teams in a neighboring state (Idaho, Oregon, or British Columbia) or Province are eligible if their project impacts waste streams that are present in WA State and could be replicable in WA State geography.

    • You don't need to already have a fully-formed idea or existing team to participate.

  • Between March 23, 2023 and May 3, 2023 at least one team member should commit to:

    • Attending (or watching a recording of) orientation session

    • Attending (or watching a recording of) workshops (90-120 minutes) that are geared towards helping teams and individuals develop their pitch ideas

    • Being available to receive guidance and resources to develop final pitch

    • Attending the LIVE final event and be available to engage in a short Q&A session with judges.

  • We are asking all applicants to acknowledge this as an NDA for applicants submitting confidential and otherwise sensitive information re: their product, financials, etc.

    This non disclosure agreement is made between Seattle Good Business Network (SGBN), Zero Waste Washington (ZWW), and PreCycle Innovation Challenge (PCIC) applicant. This agreement is entered into pursuant to protect all details, information, and product ideas of each applicant.

    By applying to PCIC applicants agree to these terms.

    I. Confidential Information

    The term “Confidential Information” shall refer to all information or materials from PCIC applicants that have or could have commercial value, including but not limited to, strategies, plans, objectives, processes, financials, etc., whether communicated in writing, orally, electronically, photographically, or in any other form.

    II. Non-Disclosure.

    SGBN and ZWW agree that they shall have the obligation to:

    (a) hold the Confidential Information in the strictest of confidence;

    (b) not use the Confidential Information for any personal gain or detrimentally to the Applicants;

    (c) take all steps necessary to protect the Confidential Information from disclosure;

    (d) not disclose or make available all or any part of the Confidential Information to any person, firm, corporation, association, or any other entity for any reason or purpose whatsoever, directly or indirectly, unless and until such Confidential Information becomes publicly available other than as a consequence of the breach by the SGBN and ZWW of their confidentiality obligations hereunder.

  • By applying to PreCycle Innovation Challenge (PCIC), applicant grants Seattle Good Business Network (SGBN), Zero Waste Washington (ZWW), and designated media, film and video, news, and other representatives identified by SGBN and ZWW as working on SGBN’s and ZWW’s behalf, the right to take motion and still pictures, and /or record my name, voice, portrayal, performance, actions, business space indicated below, likeness and or biographical information, ideas or materials provided about me and those identified herein as under my guard.

    By applying to PCIC, applicant grants all rights in the Footage and Materials collected and/or generated back to SGBN and ZWW or those working with SGBN and ZWW. The Footage and Materials may be used in whole or in part for any and all work related to the SGBN or ZWW or partners therein.
